About Art and the Artist The Baslee Troutman Collection’s Art is real, it’s fresh and it’s from a different perspective. It’s does have appeal and is the accumulation of 47 years worth of what lies inside, the honest expression of what I’m able to share with you when I let my mind escape the daily struggles of staying on top in today’s complicated world. It is an unique and different view of where I go when I travel away to another place and time, where you can admire the beautiful aspects of nature, timing, life. It’s what I capture and pull together that defines my optimistic, hopeful views. That’s the beauty of art, it takes you out and away, and into another place to think, to contemplate, to wonder, to rest and relax and to find yourself. The real you, when you’re not in one of your designated roles playing employee, boss, citizen, neighbor, husband, father or any other position that requires time, effort or attention. After many years of requests to produce fine art prints, The Baslee Troutman collection series has been brought out of private collections for it’s new release into on-line galleries that will produce giclee with print-on-demand capabilities. Each newly created print is created from a digital master file at the time of request. You choose the size, paper or canvas substrates, coatings, glazing, framing and matting. These will be on-going open edition collections. The art you want, when you want it, at your convenience. Art is about the viewer (the buyer, owner, shower). It is for you to enjoy, find satisfaction in, and share with family & friends and be something you can be proud of and show to others for their enjoyment. Your art should fulfill the need to tell a story in a way that calls to a person to look upon the picture, and look again, and look longer because there is much more. SEEING THE WORLD AS ART I catch myself framing landscape or scenic scenes as they unfold. Imagining how it would look as a picture, wanting to capture it. Seeing it in pictures that can be designed. Capturing the feeling of the moment, the senses it ignited, the mood it created, with it’s colors just right, the light, the symetrics, the flow, as if a frame could hold the theme in place. A way to remember a place and time, that would never be replicated. In that moment only, the movement, the motion, the time, the tones and color and light. In that combination, needs to be kept and captures, and expressed. Holding time still. To share with others. Hoping they will see what only exists at that particular moment. Because it wont be replicated, just as it was ever again. Somehow, it would be forever lost if not recorded, at least in somebody’s mind. It can be changed, rearranged, blending themes, placing different scenes together, overlaying them, organizing, removing flaws, blending colors, adding components. Taking the original and creating what has never been seen together before. A new Original. Only in your mind as it is created, thought by thought, stroke by stroke. So you too may have traveled, where I have, if only in my mind, what I see when I close my eyes and wander. Away from the realness of daily activities, beyond any harshness or sharp lines, outside of the structure, never minding the common practices, forbidding approved procedures and processes. Where there are only the rules you create. No demands, no critiques and all that matters is if it is pleasing to look at. Does it evoke feelings and emotions, and senses that take you to a better place, does it let you dream and anticipate having the best luck and good fortune. Does it bring sensations of calmness, wonder, awe, letting you enter into and follow your own story, whatever it is that you want to see, to create. And follow that path more than once, letting you change the ending or the meaning until it is what you’d like it to be. BASLEE TROUTMAN |

Baslee Troutman Fish Art Collection There’s a Fish! LOOK, right there. Do you see it? It’s a Brook Trout! Anglers, like those I know including myself, have this unending need to scan the water to see if any fish can be spotted. You approach the water’s edge quietly, trying not to slip or make too much noise, scanning down into the water. Looking for shapes or differences in color or shadows that could be a fish, watching for any movements. The sun’s rays spreading wavy reflection across the top, making it a little more difficult to see. The wind or waves making their ripples that distort having a clear view. . But you look, and look, and then you spot it. You want to show your find off, so you invite them to come look because it’s always much better if you can share your sighting with another person. But be quiet, don’t spook the fish. Look right, there, can you see it? It’s got to be a fish, right. You want them to see it too, if not to verify it’s truly a fish, to share this stolen moment where you get to be part of something so natural, wild, refreshing. This is serene excitement. Sometimes you only get to see it for a second or two, as they quickly dart for cover because you’ve been spotted or someone comes rambling down to the shore or throw rocks into the water. But other times, they are there, definitely there, and you want them to stay around until you’ve had your fill. Now someone has to identify the fish, and then you start announcing their size. These are perfect times, and you wish that you could spend more time away, like this. Once a fish has been spotted, fishing stories come easily about previous catches, or fun times spent with family and friends. Seeing fish or meeting up with another person that fishes, invokes a clear need to share and tell others about fishing outings and adventures, or great catches or humorous mishaps. It creates a common bond or thread that ties us all together. Fishermen and their friends can relate to the story, even if they have nothing else in common. The telling of the weather, the water condition, the preparation to get there, the wait, the catch, the trials and errors, landing the King, losing the big one, missing the hardest strike, limiting out, out-fishing your buddy and describing the fish in detail along with every run made making your reel squeal or reeling in while it bent your pole almost in half, the fight with the head shaking, top water surface dancing, trying to wrap you around structure, the exhilarating, adrenaline rushing fight. FIND YOUR RETREAT We seek out retreats for ourselves in the country, by the seaside, on the mountain tops… but often it is there, we cannot physically travel. We must then go inside, our home, our offices, and retreat into ourselves, resting within our thoughts, and travel to our retreats in mind and spirit.
